Yeah, let’s pretend this photo by Ian Roman shows us what the America’s Cup is going to be. Let’s pretend that these were not the AC 40’s, but rather the AC 75’s. Now let’s pretend that the AC would feature all the 75’s on the line at once – an actual regatta, instead of the inevitable mismatch between the two finalists that end up in a bizzare version of a “match race”
Let’s pretend that the race course was twice as long and twice as wide, without artificial boundaries that are virtually never a part of any regatta, and let’s pretend that people wouldn’t find this much more interesting. Let’s pretend that F1 only had the fastest two cars in the final race, and tell us how interesting that would be. Not exactly apples to apples, but you get the ridiculousness of such a thing.
