Rule 69 Podcast #5. Carlo Borlenghi.

carlo borlenghi, ainslie, sailgp…Today I am my usual long-winded self, but I think the topics are good. The passing of legendary sailboat photographer/artist Carlo Borlenghi; I watched the most recent SailGP and…I liked it! I mock Ben Ainslie for suing to have ownership of the Brits last AC boat too.

I spent probably too much time talking about how I think the flailing US economy under Trump is going to really affect the middle class center of much of the racing in this country. Enjoy!

The Rule 69 Podcast

Our longest and best podcast ever! I can’t imagine a more famous and well-known boat than the Spencer 62 Ragtime (nee Infidel).

Under ownership of Tina Roberts, Ragtime just won both Division 1, and overall in the Pacific Cup race to Hawaii!

This was by far my favorite interview,  and it wasn’t because of my skills (which are immense), but because Tina is such a smart, dynamic, and amazing owner. She truly explains the essence of owning Ragtime, the history, the respect and the responsibility of owning such a piece of sailing history under her stewardship. Enjoy!

World-class San Diego sailor Alex Camet is sailing in the Etchells 22 Worlds, which are heading into day three of a week-long regatta in San Diego, and joins us today for the Rule 69 podcast.

While their results are mixed (as basically everybody’s are), Alex takes us inside the game, in terms of starting, managing the course, the new technology in the class, and talking about the psychology of being in good or bad shape in a race. Enjoy!

introduction!

Okay, here we go! This is the first and somewhat wordy, Rule 69 podcast, an introduction to what I have in mind for Rule 69 going forward. I want this new platform to by dynamic, interesting and entertaining. I know there are a lot of options to occupy your eyeballs, and I know that if we aren’t entertaining at the very least, people won’t care. We have not had a ton of time to get the site where it is ultimately going to be, but we are happy with what we have so far, and hope that you enjoy it!

As the founder of the other place all those years ago, I learned one hell of a lot, both what to do and what not to do (I’m still getting the hang of what not to do – haha). We are going to have more content from a variety of excellent writers, and given that we are brand new, I really want to ask our small (so far)community to contribute content they they like. Stories, anecdotes, pics, videos, jokes, insults, lengthy diatribes and ball busting are all welcome. Hell, we’ll take poetry. Dirty of course – haha.

Yes, there’s swearing – I am relatively profane, and yes I bring some energy and lots o’ opinions! As we go along, I’ll be adding interesting guests, and am happy to hear who you would like to hear. Send in your suggestions here, and I’ll jump on it!  Give a listen! – Tempesta.
