A few years ago – ten years ago in fact – I was looking for my next boat. In conversations with Peter Morton, he mentioned to me that he would sell me his completely refurbished Farr half-ton Swuzzlebubble. I swooned! This was one of my all-time favorite boat since it hit the water back in the day when the Half Ton class was red hot, and this boat dominated. I loved everything about it, as I did with the new generation of Farr boats that followed the same design theme, no matter the size.
I had a limited budget, but Morty made the price insanely attractive, as in unbelievable. The only thing that I couldn’t really afford was the shipping. I regretfully passed, but I often kick myself in the face for this horrible decision. I had a chance to buy a true legend, but I fucked up.
I ended up buying a near perfect Melges 32, which I loved and won races and had tons of fun with, but if I could go back, I would have bought it and I bet I would still own it! – tempesta.
This great pic is from day 2 of Cork Week on July 7. Photo by Rick Tomlinson. They have won all four races in their class so far.
