usa? i don’t think soWe just got this from US Sailing:

US Sailing is seeking applications for the 2026 Offshore Double Handed World Championship (ODHWC)

If you are part of a double handed offshore mixed crew (please see NOR for the specific definitions for mixed crew) and interested in representing the USA at the 2026 Offshore Double Handed World Championship, submit your application for consideration in the process outlined below. US Sailing, along with other Member National Authorities (MNAs), has been invited to apply for entry in the event. US Sailing will request two invitations during the first phase of registration, and hopes to be invited to nominate one, and possibly a second, team to participate in the 2026 event. Please see the Official Notice Board for specific event details.

This is the third edition of the Offshore Doublehanded World Championship will be held in Marseille, France, from 23 September to 2 October 2026 using the Sun Fast 30 One Design. More entry info here.

Now, when I write “usa? I don’t think so”, I say that because Europe is so far ahead of this country’s rather pitiful single and doublehanded efforts, that envisioning a US team doing anything would probably involve hallucinogenics of some sort. Will there even be a US entry??

It’s a bit of a shame to even have to ask that, as the appeal of doublehanding seems really strong, but it’s also no surprise given that the crumbling institutions of racing in the US move at a glacial pace when it comes to anything new, and this is hardly new… – tempesta.
